Writing, Writing, Writing!

Image
Hey there! This is the last day we had before we film and I wanted to really get everything done as much as possible that can be done without the film. I wanted to do this because once we film we will have to focus on editing and perfecting the film. This means I just have to complete the last couple of steps to finish on the website. All I had to do was fill in the content on the website, like the reviews and film festivals we have won.  The first section of the website I filled in was a general introduction and information about our film "The Crash". I wrote, "The Crash is a student short film based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Our goal is to promote and showcase The Crash to a wide audience, serving as a platform to generate interest and attract viewers. We believe in entertaining and enticing viewers interested in a dramatic story following our main character Jack. Jack gets into a car accident one morning, and it's no more than a little inconvenience right? Wat...

Rainy Delays

Image
Hey there! Theres been some delays in our filming plans. We had originally planned to film on Monday the 19th since we had no school. However, Florida weather did not agree with our plans and it was a rainy, dark day. This meant that we couldn't film our outside scenes, since we needed sunshine. We didn't want to give up entirely though so we thought about the indoor scenes we could film. These were the mall scenes and hospital/house scenes. We all got together and went to Galleria Mall, which is close to all of us. When we got there however it was very busy. The rain meant many people thought it was the perfect mall day. We decided we couldn't film with that many people. for a few reasons. Since there was too much background noise and too many people in our shots. We also weren't able to film the hospital scenes because we didn't have a good hospital bed set up. By this time, it was too late in the day to try and film anymore. Instead, we all just agreed that we w...

Continuing the Website

Image
Hey there! Today I had some goals with continuing the development our website. I wanted to get as much done as I could before we film so that only the final touches of adding pictures from the filming process needs to be done. With that being said, my goal for today was to create and link the social media accounts, on a special social media tab of our website.  When I first started working on it I thought that we should have Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter (or X) accounts. I knew that pretty much all I had to do was create a new account on each site and put in all the correct information relating to our short film. This seemed easy enough, however when I started out I came across some issues. The first account I tried to make was Facebook, which proved to be very difficult. I was not allowed to make an independent new business account just for advertising the film, I had to connect it to a pre-existing account. I didn't realize that until I made a "business page"...

Let's Start Advertising

Image
Hey there! Beginning this week my group and I started the advertising process for our short film. We started working on both the postcard and website. We split up the work, with Lola being the primary editor/creator of the postcard and me being the primary creator/editor of the website. Jack will just help us in anything we need along the process of creating our respective projects. With that being said, I have less to say about the creation of the postcard and it's progress. I can however talk about my experience in creating the website to advertise our short film. The first thing I had to do was find a way to create the website. I ended up using Wix.com, which was super simple and easy to use. I followed the steps outlined for me to create the perfect website for our short film. I know that I want to include a link to our short film, some information about our media group, some of the reviews our film has gotten, and links to our film's social media. With this in mind I chose...

Getting the Ball Rolling

Image
Hey there! We're finally here in my favorite part of this project, the filming! My group and I can't wait to get to filming and editing but there are some things that need to be taken care of first. To start, we have to get the props needed to start filming next week. In my group Jack will get the medical props like a stethoscope and any other medical paraphernalia he can find for the hospital scenes. Lola and I will both bring our cars so we can film a car crash, and Lola will bring anything else that will make an area look like a car crash. I will then also bring any sort of everyday items we will need. This will be things like coffee cups and shopping bags for the mall scenes. I know Lola has prepared her props so now Jack and I just have to be prepared before next week. We are planning to film next Monday on President's day since we have no school. This is different than what we planned on but we didn't realize that we had the Monday off, and that we were all not o...

In scene 11 we will use a medium shot to show the boy and the guy who hit him having a discussion about what’s happening. The location will still be on the street.  In scene 12 we will use a c...

Planning!

Image
Hey there! My group and I have started the planning process for how we are going to film our short film.  Schedule- Days to Film: Saturday 2/3, Saturday 2/10, Saturday 2/17 (if necessary) Times to film on each Saturday 11:30 am to 4:00 The dates are Saturdays that we should all be open and able to film on during hours where the sun is up, since all of our scenes are in daylight. If we finish filming on schedule there would be almost a month (2/18-3/15) for us to edit and make any changes or re-film. Location- Lola's House/Street to film during the day scenes of main character at home and the car accident. Galleria Mall to film main character going throughout their day Lola's Room to film hospital scenes Participants- Samantha Price, Lola Mackie, Jack Lynch, Tanner Martin, Macy Martin, Nate, Eva These are all participants who will help with filming; they will each wither hold the camera and assist in that way, or play characters on screen.  Health and Safety: To keep our group ...
