Preparing to film

Image
I woke up early on the Monday of my thanksgiving break and waited for Noura to pick me up and take us to Macy's house to film. I made sure to pack a bag with supplies I might need through the day, I checked that I had my phone incase we needed to film with it and at the last minute I remembered that we hadn't decided who would be the monster in our film. When I remembered this I realized I could be the one that plays it so I would have to wear a costume for it. I thought about what the costume would be and decided on an all black outfit. After texting Noura and Macy and asking if they agreed, I then had to choose if I wanted to change into the costume or not. I decided to just bring it in my back incase I'm not the monster.  Once Noura and I got to Macy's house we all greeted each other and sat down to go over the plan for the day. We realized we didn't have a mask to use, which is a very important part of the plot. We searched in Macy's house for something that

Storyboard: What we envision on our way

Image
First scene: Our first shot will be filmed at Macy's house where our main character will be laying in bed. The camera will pan into a medium close up of her face. This will open and establish our main character. Second scene: This shot will show the main character walking into her bathroom and looking into the mirror, starting the plot of the video. She will be brushing her teeth and getting ready in a melancholic way. The girl will then look to her side and with a quick camera pan to the shower the camera shows a "monster" standing there. The monster is our second character who is an unknown masked person. The camera then pans back to the mirror where the main character screams at her reflection and runs out of the bathroom. Third scene: The camera tracks the girl's back and follows her out of the door of the bathroom, which opens up to outside of a cafe. In this shot the main character is walking out into the parking lot of the cafe with a coffee in her hand. We fo

Our Plan

Props: Our music video is set in everyday life which means that our props are everyday items like a toothbrush, a car, a coffee cup, and a beach ball. Costumes: Our music video has two characters. The main subject will be wearing pajamas in the beginning, and then change to a swimsuit in a later scene. The other character will be wearing all black and a mask. Our actors will have their hair and makeup done in a natural way; however, they would usually have it done in the morning and at the beach.  Schedule: On 11/11/22 , our group researched the con ventions and codes of pop music and Olivia Rodrigo music videos .   On 11/14 / 2 2 , our group established the props, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan fo r filming .   O n 11/17 /22, our group will create the storyboard for our 1 minute 15 second music video .   On 11/21 /22, our group will film and record the shots for our commercial .   On 11/22/22-12/16/22, our group will edit the footage and add the finishing tou

Research Blog: Modern Pop Songs Conventions

My group is making our music video to the song "brutal" by Olivia Rodrigo. This song is a pop song, and in other music videos for Olivia Rodrigo songs, as well as similar pop songs, there is often an early 2000s feel with a lot of bright colors and different scenes.  The subjects in these videos are often with a significant other or friends, doing activities. The setting is also usually in a busy or central area, like a school, fair, or mall.  The subjects are seen doing choreographed dance, especially background dancers if the main subject is not The filming often has elements of editing to make it look like it was filmed on a camera from the early 2000s, especially in Olivia Rodrigo music videos The songs in these videos are generally about heartbreak or relationships, so that is seen in the video This means there is often times scenes of couples, or evidence of past relationships Costumes in these are up to date with pop culture and modern times, being very modern Costume

Group Blog: Introductions

My group is me and two of my classmates, Noura Attah and Macy Martin. This is a different group than I worked with for my commercial. Noura was in my previous group, Macy was not. Our class is large and Noura and I didn't even realize Macy was in it, but when we realized we invited her to be on our group. I think we will work well together and have fun at the same time. Noura and I did a good job on the commercial so I am confident it will go well again. I have also had success working with Noura on many other projects, in many other classes. I have never done projects with Macy, but she seems like a hard worker and reliable partner. Noura and Macy are both good friends of mine and are academically achieved. We are all fans of Olivia Rodrigo, whose song we are using for the music video. We all even plan on attending her concert when she comes to Florida in April! This fact will make it a more fun project for all of us. We have chosen the song "brutal" by Olivia Rodrigo,

Intro: Nice to meet you!

Hello, my name is Samantha Price and I am a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High school. I play lacrosse, read, and crochet in my free time. I want to learn about directing films, because I love acting. That is partially why I chose to take this class. I also wanted to learn more about the film-making process as a whole. When reading the course description I was intrigued by the idea of learning about how directors use things like camera angles and sound to portray a specific point or idea. Making films of my own, like the commercial that we just finished, and the music video we are about to do, I get to learn all of this in a fun way. This class has already influenced how I watch films and television, making me notice the actions directors take and why. I learned a lot about camera angles with the last project and hope to learn more about the editing process. For the music video, I have many elaborate ideas that I hope to utilize and complete. These include thoughts on the way we should
