Creative Critical Reflection

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent   social groups or issues?   Our commercial uses classic energy drink conv entions with aspects like our actors playing a sport and being active, the costumes being a form o f active wear, having sports gear as props, and an inte nse scoring with empowering music. The social group it represents is athletes , featuring two and showing how Celsius can help them.   2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?   The dramatic change in the music engages the audience, as well as the difference in visuals from different scenes in the video. It would be distributed on television and across social media platforms like Instagram and Tik-Tok because it is short, yet entertaining and would keep an audience's attention until the end.   3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?   My knowledge of how to best use my phone camer a and

The Commercial!

My partner and I are very proud of our finished commercial ! W e came into this project with little to no experience in filming at all. So, this experience was different than anything we’d ever done before, but it was still very fun! We had an especially great time editing the footage to make it look like a real commercial. Grab a Celsius and enjoy!

The editing process for our commercial went much smoother than the filming process. It started out with me going over all the takes we filmed because they were on my phone. We filmed them on my phone because I have better camera quality. After I watched them all I decided which shots to use in the final video. Next, I sent the chosen shots to Noura to edit them together. Noura did most of the editing because she was more interested in it, and knew the process better. She used iMovie to make it and put it together. She chose songs to use in the video to contrast the energy levels of our subjects. I reviewed those songs and agreed with her choices. Initially, I didn't really think the high energy song fit very well, but Noura convinced me and it worked out really well. In class we also worked on it together and had some disagreements with the filters used. I didn't like how the high energy shots looked because the filter was too intense and made the sky kind of purple, but Noura

We finished filming all the shots for our commercial. There were a few bumps along the way but we successfully finished and we have enough time to edit. The day started off at lacrosse practice with our whole team, we chose to film after practice so we could ask anyone we needed to fill in for missing actors. We didn't have time to get Celsius to use in the commercial so Noura and I had to walk to a nearby Walgreens and get some. However, the Walgreens that we went to had no Celsius in stock. This meant we had to walk much further, to a Publix that we could buy them from. We almost got lost walking back and in total it took about 40 minutes. When we finally got back to the field where we planned to film, there were only two people left that we could film with and we were behind schedule. We also needed to use the lacrosse goal in our video, which they had put away while preparing to leave so we had to bring it back out. The two people still there were Jessica, one of the original

We haven ' t started filming our commercial yet. There was a planned lacrosse practice on W ednesday 10/5 , so we had the chance to film but I went to a concert instead of going to practice. My group-mate Noura was planning on going to practice and talking to our act ors making sur e they know the plan, as well as assessing the setting  and area we will film. She could do this alone, however practice was cancelled at the usual l ocation. The practice was moved to a public park instead. This meant that she couldn't assess the exact areas where we will film on Saturday when we do. She could however talk to our actors. Our actors are An iyah and Jessica, two captains of our lacrosse team who are very capable of showing off their scoring skills for our commercial. As I mentioned, I went to a concert instead of practice because it was my friends birthday and she got tickets. We saw a band called Peach Pit. The concert put us a little behind on our filming schedule but it was wo

F ir st scene-   In this scene we will pan out from the trunk of a car onto our 1 st subject , where she will grab her lacrosse gear . She is sad and low energy as she walks towards the field for practice. This scene will be a medium shot tracking the subject . The background sound is quiet and boring.   Second scene-   The next scene consists of our second subject very energetically taking shots at the goal. It is a long shot, showing her entire body to emphasize how active she is being. This will all be shot on a football field in athletic clothing to show she is playing a sport. Loud music plays while she is in frame .   Third scene-   During this scene the camera cuts back to the 1 st subject, upset and lazily putting on her lacrosse gear. The quiet sound is back, and it is a long shot.   Fourth scene-   In the fourth scene the 1 st subject is approached by the 2 nd subject. The second subject has a Celsius in her hand and passes it to the 1 st subject . This will be
