Continuing the Website

Hey there! Today I had some goals with continuing the development our website. I wanted to get as much done as I could before we film so that only the final touches of adding pictures from the filming process needs to be done. With that being said, my goal for today was to create and link the social media accounts, on a special social media tab of our website. 

When I first started working on it I thought that we should have Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter (or X) accounts. I knew that pretty much all I had to do was create a new account on each site and put in all the correct information relating to our short film. This seemed easy enough, however when I started out I came across some issues. The first account I tried to make was Facebook, which proved to be very difficult. I was not allowed to make an independent new business account just for advertising the film, I had to connect it to a pre-existing account. I didn't realize that until I made a "business page" and set everything up on it. Only to figure out that it was only a portion of my personal Facebook account. After fighting with it for a few minutes I decided this was not going to work to link to the website. I decided to give up on the Facebook account and adapt, especially after researching and finding I really had no other option. I spoke to my group about it and decided to do a Youtube account instead. Youtube allows you to have more than one independent channel on one Google account and email which works perfectly. I was able to quickly create a Youtube account called "The Crash" (the title of our short film), and create a small bio before linking the account to an icon on the website. 

I then was able to easily create both TikTok and Instagram accounts because I am most familiar with these sites. I made sure to use the same or very similar username across all the social medias, which is something I have noticed is done by other business or advertising accounts. After that was done I linked each social media to their respective icons on the website.  Finally, I created a twitter account following the same prompt with only a small amount of confusion since I don't use the app very much. Once that was done I linked it to the website and I was finished!

I will have to go back to all the social medias to add profile pictures and maybe some posts once we are done with filming, as well as linking the completed website to each of them. For now however, I am happy with my progress.

Link:  CR Google Doc How do your products represent social groups or issues? A social group or issue represented in my products is the Lgbtq community. Our main character, Jack, is a gay man with the film featuring him and his boyfriend. Our film however does not entirely focus on Jack’s sexuality, I believe this even more strongly represents the social group of the Lgbtq community because it helps reduce stigma and normalize seeing gay couples on the big screen. With the story being largely similar as to what it would be if Jack had a girlfriend instead of a boyfriend it brings awareness to the true normalcy of Lgbtq couples and the struggles they experience similar to everyone else. This detail of Jack being gay is not in the focus so much so that this detail is not featured anywhere in the postcard or website. Let's Wrap It Up

 Onto the final day of filming! Yay we're reaching the end. The only scenes we had left to film were the house scenes and the hospital scene. We decided to do these both at Lola's house. We all met up at her house after school yesterday to get everything done. The only people in the scenes we were filming were Jack and one of his friends, played by Nate. We started out with the house scenes, for this we used Lola's front room. We also asked Lola's parents to participate in playing Jack's parents in the film. They said yes and we got her house a little bit tidied before starting. We quickly shot the parent scenes and moved upstairs for the room scenes. For this we had to make dizzying effects on the camera to show Jack passing out. We did this by slightly shaking the camera and rotating it in a circle. Short Film Research: A Woman of No Importance

 Hey there! Another short film I researched was A Women of No Importance. This film was about an undocumented single mother who has has a hard life and finally takes control of it. Her store manager overworks her and blackmails her until she is able to blackmail him back. This short film is only seven minutes long however it tells a very real and dramatic story incorporating many common things found it drama films. The film sparks so many emotions starting from sad to mad and to proud while also leaving an uneasy feeling at the end. Many dramas end in a way you don’t want or expect them to as this short film did. In this film unlike the others I researched had much less dialogue and more digestive sound such a car noises and people.
