Group Blog

My group consists of me and my classmate, Noura Attah. She is a good friend of mine and I know that we work well together. We have done Cambridge projects together in the past and gotten high scores. We both have very high academic motivation and complete all of our work to the best of our abilities. This has been proven to me many times, and I trust that we will work well together again. With similar interests outside of school the idea for our commercial was fairly easy to come up with, after a very small amount of debate on other possible products. We both enjoy lacrosse and theater, both of which had products related to them that we debated on advertising. I know that Noura works in a professional timely matter, and has similar ideas to me while still having new and unique things to add. This is why I chose her to be in my group for this project. She has already shown what she can add to our project by coming up with ideas and inspiration, while expanding on ideas of my own. She has expressed interest in the scoring and sounds in films and how they add to the message being conveyed, so I think that is what she will enjoy learning about the most. I also think she will want to focus on that part of our commercial. I am interested in the camera angles and how to use them, as well as directing the actors in the film to correctly display the product we are advertising and carry out the vision. That is the section of the project I plan on focusing on and really perfecting. It is also a large part of what we learn in this class, which I am excited for. 
    I believe this group will be efficient and that we will satisfy the requirements of the project accordingly. I also believe that with Noura, I will enjoy completing this project even more than I might've before.  Overall, I am happy with the group I have chosen, even though it is fairly small. Two people is enough for this project to be successful. I am confident that we will benefit and learn from this project, as well as using it as a way to prepare for the final task we must complete later this year.

A Morning of Work

     Once we got to Macy's house, figured out the changes we needed to make, and found all of our props, we officially started the filming process. We started in the morning by going around to all of the rooms we were going to film and planned how it would work. We started in Macy's room and planned how we would film her waking up and getting ready. The main character started in her bed so Macy laid down in her bed so Noura and I could get a realistic view. We then discussed ways to start the music video. We knew that we wanted a close up on Macy's face for the first line of the song but didn't know how to get there. Noura and I tried a couple of different options, first we thought about coming in from the door of her room and slowly closing in, but we decided against it. Our Storyboard!

Storyboard In scenes 1-6 we will be using just a black screen or dark screen to start off the short film. It will have all of the titles throughout them. Scene 1 with have the name of the studio title. Scene 2 will have the name of production title. Scene 3,4, and 5 will all have the actors names titles on them. Scene 6 has the name of the film.  Scenes 7-9 will also be dark screens with titles on it. Scene 7 has the music by title. Scene 8 has the edited by title, and scene 9 has the directed by title which is the last title before going into the actual movie.  In scene 10 we will shoot the main character getting out of the car. For this scene we will use a wide angle to show the boy getting out of the car and the background of where is at/The location of this will be on my street. Our Genre of Choice

Hey there! My group and I all intensely researched multiple genres to decide which would be the best to use. After carful consideration my group narrowed in down to the genres comedy, drama, and thriller. We then finally came to the conclusion that the drama genre would best suit our film idea. The other genres for example comedy would not work as well as it very hard to connect both intense drama and suspense with laughter and joy. The point in our film is to shock our audience with the plot twist and keep a high emotional intensity. Thriller is in also not the ideal genre as there is not an intent to scare the audience but more to spike emotions. We are also still high-school students with a limited budget and no movie equipment. This makes it very hard to do movies like thriller and keep them looking somewhat realistic.
